Got daily updates. Cat seemed happy when she came home.

Monday May 25th is Memorial Day and many of us have the day off which is great, because we can spend time with our cats or helping cats. There are a lot of great ways to celebrate Memorial Day with your sweet kitty.

1.  Sleeping in
Cats love holidays like Memorial Day because their humans often have the day off and get to sleep in and cats love spending time sleeping with their humans in a big soft warm bed. Don’t rush out of bed on Memorial Day, spend some extra time cuddling with your kitty.

2. Time to help cats
You can also take the time off from work to help homeless cats in your area. June is Adopt A Shelter Cat Month and Social Petworking Month so use this day so share some adoptable kitties on your Facebook page or other social media. Follow a new rescue group or two. Send out an email to friends and family encouraging cat adoption. You can make a huge difference and help cats find homes.

3.  Spring Cleaning
Having a day off from work means you can do some spring cleaning. Clean your floors and put away any chemicals or cleaners that could be toxic to your cat. Take a lint roller to the sofa! Take a look at your kitty’s belongings. Is it time to get a new litter box? Replace old toys that could be harmful. Donate your old supplies to a shelter and take advantage of all those Memorial Day sales by getting your kitty new clean gear!

​4. Grooming
Use the time off from work to groom your kitty. Give your kitty a bath if needed and brush out her fur to help remove that thick winter coat for summer.

Cats may spend most of the day sleeping, but beneath that calm exterior lies one of the most refined physical designs in nature. Every stretch, jump, and silent landing is the result of extraordinary anatomy working with precision.

Take flexibility, for example. Cats have up to 53 vertebrae, far more than humans, and extremely flexible shoulder joints that allow them to twist, elongate, and compress their bodies with astonishing ease. That’s why they can squeeze into impossibly small spaces, groom hard-to-reach spots, and rotate mid-air with such grace.

Their agility is equally impressive. A healthy cat can jump up to five or six times its body length in a single leap. Hello, my name is Robin Dann. I have always loved animals as a kid. As an adult I had multiple cats of my own, mostly rescued strays. At the moment I do not own any pet but I do miss having them around! I have a cat-sitting experience and look forward to making it a regular part of my life. I live alone in a comfortable one-bedroom apartment, work part-time in a design studio and don’t go out much, so your pet will get lots of attention and play in your absence. Oscar was BRILLIANT! He went above and beyond in caring for my cat, sending me photos and videos while I was away (which made me want to come to the cat!!). But Oscar also dealt with me with kindness and compassion - I had to mess him around a bit, due to health issues I'm dealing with - he never once made me feel like I was being painful (even though I was). He even took the cat litter rubbish/wet food cans home with him, and didn't leave them for me to deal with. Oscar was a perfect caregiver to my Maxie on the two days I had to be away. When Oscar first met Maxie, he let Maxie sniff him in order for Maxie to get comfortable with him. Oscar asked me all the necessary questions in order to provide the best service. He played with Maxie and took gorgeous pictures and videos of him during his visits, he cleaned the litter box, and after feeding Maxie, he took the empty cans of food with him to throw away elsewhere as there were no signs of discarded cans in the kitchen trash. He even cleaned Maxie's food bowls and let them dry by the sink. He also took a picture of my apartment keys so that I would know where to find them. I couldn't have been more pleased. Thank you!

It was clear from when I introduced Oscar to Buddy that he was a cat person - even Buddy was immediately rubbing against his legs.
