My son and I live in a two bedroom apartment, located the the Bronx. Prior to us moving into our current apartment my son and I owned a cat who we called spicy. I took spicy in as a kitten who was being mistreated by his first family. Spicy became part of our family for 8 years. While living in my previous residence my landlord had abandoned the building which forced my to move immediately it was unfortunate for us because the place we moved to didn't allow any animals, although it was temporary. I was forced to take spicy to ASPCA. After i secured our permanant residence, I returned for spicy but he was already adopted by another family. My son and I never adopted another animal after spicy. I'm currently seeking my BSW to become a social worker, and employed as a case manager working with adults living with a mental illness. I'm in my third year and soon to be finished. I would find it beneficial to my son and I to help those in need of cat sitting so we can provide the care that the cat is use to while there family is away.

Potential problems could be detected and be picked up early. A kitten should complete the regular vaccination schedule. This includes a series of shots and booster shots that last around 12 months (it involves 2/3 visits to the vet). Please talk to your vet about mandatory shots and decide which shots should your kitten receive. New York State Law requires mandatory rabies shots. More details about vaccinations can be found here: http://www.kittyinny.com/blog/vaccination-schedule-for-cats Indoor cats should be spayed/neutered. The recommended age for the procedure is between the 10th and the 24th week of age.
