I have grown up with pets since childhood and being an only child provided me a chance to form a special bond with animals! I would be honored to help take care of your furry loved ones and will treat them with lots of love and patience, as I do with my own. I currently have a senior cat with special needs who I have had for 15 years so I am also very happy to help with any cat that has special needs or needs medical assistance. When I'm not spending time with animals, I am an economic consultant and plan to go to grad school in the near future! I promise to be respectful of your homes and treat your pets like my own.

I am a writer who lives alone in a large studio apartment in midtown Manhattan. I had two wonderful cats – Bo Diddley and Roxy - here for 20 years. They both died of cancer in the same year and I was so heartbroken I didn’t ever want to have my own cat again. But when I took care of a girlfriend’s cat when she went on vacation, I realized how much I love having a little furry creature in my life, so I signed up with Kitty In NY.

I love boarding and visiting cats and I adore taking photographs of them. My apartment, which is totally cat-proof, has a lot of old-fashioned quilts, desks, trunks and colorful objects that I use as backgrounds for pictures. I swear, cats know how good they look in my shots and they pose with very little persuading. I will care for your four-footed friend as if it were my own. I also have my Red Cross emergency pet medicine certification.

Toni was amazing. Had something fall through with our previous cat caretaker and called Kitty in NY and was connected with Toni. She took us in very last minute and took the best care of our kitten Parker. She sent tons of photos and had a lot of fun with him over the weekend. It's very very obvious that Toni adores cats and animals in general and is very knowledgeable about their care. She had the nicest things to say about him. Parker is a slippery one who gets everywhere and has no idea what danger is, so making sure he's safe and happy is very important to us. With Toni, I had not a worry in the world. I have always been an animal lover and done a great deal of cat- dog- and horse-sitting during my life. I recently lost my own beloved kitty (winter 2015) and miss feline company. Thought it would be lovely to welcome your cat into my home and give him or her all my affection until one day when I feel ready to adopt another pal. I am used to care for cats of different temperaments and ages, and enjoy the process of gently exploring their individual needs and preferences. If this involves rearranging a few things in my home to accommodate a kitty’s choices, I am happy to do so.
I live alone in a clean and quiet small studio apartment on the boarder between Chelsea and the Village. It has lots of light and places for a cat to lounge. I work as an equine photographer and do all the editing at home, so your cat would have plenty of company and play time. Hope to make their acquaintance soon.

Pia was absolutely wonderful at watching my silly old cat. Oliver doesn’t get much attention at home, and it’s clear that he received a ton of attention with Pia! He also requires medication daily and has been very particular about his food. Pia was great at updating me with which brands he was actually eating and if he had taken his medication. Beyond that, Pia sent the cutest videos of Oliver enjoying his time with her. Can’t thank her enough for clearly providing Oliver with care, attention, and love.

Pia is smart, kind and has great communication skills. Pia is excellent on all fronts. She is loving AND she is willing to pick up the litter and food at the Pet Central near her (I suspect because her building is unable to receive deliveries.) David has been a lifelong pet owner and animal lover, having raised both cats and
dogs since his early childhood. He is, by profession, an IT Specialist, but he began,
over the past few years, scaling back and working from home, which afforded him
the opportunity to make cat-sitting a primary focus. When asked about his general
philosophy, David says:

Hi, my name is David! I have been a lifelong pet owner and animal lover, having raised both cats and dogs since early childhood. I am, by profession, an IT Specialist, but began, over the past few years, scaling back and working from home, which afforded me the opportunity to make cat-sitting a major focus.

If asked about my general philosophy, I would say because many people view cats as being such self-sufficient creatures, it’s easy for them to take for granted the notion that they are just fine when left alone. Being so familiar with them, and having spent as much time as I have taking care of other people's cats over the years, I realize how untrue this is. It is important for the cats, as well as their humans to have someone there--not just to feed them & clean their litter boxes, but to provide a consistent level of companionship and stress-relieving stimulation, if even only for a brief amount of time every day. This is something that I feel is essential for a pet owner, and it is work that brings me great joy.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn where I was surrounded by my family’s cats and dogs until I went away to Stony Brook University for my undergraduate education. It was then that I experienced the sorrow of losing a pet for the first time when my American Wirehair mix, Cookie passed away while I was away at school. I credit this experience, in part, with helping to shape the empathy with which I approach the care of another person’s cat(s)--particularly those with health concerns or of advanced age. Treating your cat(s) with the care and affection that I would my own beloved pet is my guiding principle and reflects the baseline standard of care that I provide.

I am fully vaccinated/boosted against COVID-19, and will wear a mask during visits. I am available in the following New York City areas: Bed-Stuy (Bedford-Stuyvesant), Fort Greene, Clinton Hills, Park Slope, Williamsburg, Greenpoint, DUMBO, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Heights, Kensington and Long Island City (LIC).
