I've always been an animal lover, and specifically a cat fanatic.
Growing up, mine was the house on the block that was known for leaving
out food and water for the neighborhood strays. My childhood home was
a makeshift shelter for any unwanted or neglected cats my mother came
across. Now that I foster and catsit them myself, I am aware of the
compassion and patience necessary. I love getting to know new cats and
all their unique needs and personality traits. I try to be open with
them, without being overbearing or intimidating and they respond very
well.
I'm a New York native, and a freelance illustrator/sculptor. My
Brooklyn apartment is clean, spacious, bright and sunny. Cats love to
look out of the big windows that overlook our backyard. We have lots
of room for them to play with their toys, lounge around, and plenty of
nooks for hiding out. Most importantly, I genuinely enjoy being around
cats and all animals, and they seem to be able to tell.

My cat is not the most socially adaptable. The patience and gentleness of care that Lauralee provided for her was clear to me from the photos I received and from the ease of her transition back to my home. In the photos I saw that she felt comfortable coming out and allowing people to pet her. This isn't always the case, and it was very encouraging to see while I was away. Additionally, when we got home, she came out of hiding within 30 minutes and was very happy and affectionate with me immediately. She usually takes a little more time to adjust to being back at home. I feel very sure that this transition was easier because of the kind of person Lauralee is, and the kindness she showed my cat. I would ask to place my cat with her again without hesitation.
