Keep your cats safe (and Indoors) during October

We enjoy the fall with pumpkins, spiced teas and lattes, colorful leaves and orange decorations. Unfortunately it is sad that some people prefer to hurt pets during this time of the year. Make sure you keep your pets inside, not only they'll be warmer but the risk of losing your beloved cat increases during this period. Some shelters have a "no black cats adoption policy" before Halloween. They could just be used as Halloween props and then abandoned. Or much worse. Ritual sacrifice still exists, there are stories in the newspapers every now and then describing horrible scenes. Some could be dismissed as urban legends but the possibility is out there.

For all those reasons, please keep your cats indoors during October. Your neighbors might be wonderful but the traffic of strangers around Halloween increases. This makes it unsafe for cats to be outside, specially gentle cats who do not fear humans.

On Halloween night you might want to keep your cats in a quiet room to avoid the constant visits and ringing. Even the quietest and most social cat becomes upset with so much traffic, costumes and excitement.

Amber was great! Communication beforehand and during Willow's stay with her was super easy, and she was extremely flexible in accommodating our schedule (early drop off/late pickup). We received pictures of him every 3rd day and he clearly enjoyed his stay at her place. Thank you!

Amber is friendly, super sweet, and great with communication. She was very attentive in the talking process of understanding Toby's needs and typical care schedule, and I appreciated how much space he had to explore once he settled into her apartment. I could tell from the pictures she sent me that he felt super comfortable with her, and knowing that she's familiar with cats/had cats in the past only made me feel more secure with leaving Toby in her care. Gold stars, would recommend!

Amber did an amazing job caring for our cats. From our initial call I could tell she’s had a lot of experience with cats. While we were away she was very communicative in sending us photos and videos of the cats daily as well telling us how the cats were doing. It gave us a peace of mind to know the cats were comfortable in their new temporary home. We would definitely leave the cats in her care again.

Amber was very communicative throughout the process. She did everything to make my kitties feel comfortable, even when one had unexpected anxiety (and showed it by wailing). I was able to visit them and give them anti-anxiety medicine during their stay. By the end, I could tell my cats were comfortable with Amber and she took very good care of them.

I picked up Baraka today and brought her home. Just writing to tell you Amber did an excellent job! Baraka got comfortable with her very fast. Amber catered to all my cat’s needs, responded to my texts, and shared lots of photos which showed me that my cat was playing, resting, felt comfortable with Amber and enjoyed her stay. Hey, I’m Val! I’m an avid animal lover and your feline’s future friend. Since I was a kid, I raised all sorts of animals from ferrets to iguanas to chinchillas. I’ve had the pleasure of working at an animal hospital in Bayside, an adult care facility in Park Slope and currently teach part-time at a school in Kew Gardens, Queens. It is one of my callings in life to care for the unspoken souls of this world, be it critters, children or the elderly. When I’m not trying to save the world, I’m usually playing/listening to music, studying astrology or attempting to write the next great screenplay. If you reside in Queens, especially the Hillside/Briarwood/Jamaica area, I’m your guy! I can ensure you that your pet will not only be safe and sound, but will be dwelling in a both peaceful and spiritual environment.

Val loves animals! He could also visit your cat/s in your apartment if you are leaving the city for just a few days, our cat sitting visits are recommended for short term. Hello! My name is Ruxandra Iancu and I've been an animal lover my whole life. I've had dogs, cats and a bunny, who lived happily to be 8 and a half years old. I don't currently have any pets and would love the opportunity to either house a cat in my own home, for the duration of your vacations, or to stop by your place and make sure your kitty gets some quality time, play time and proper care.

If you are leaving the city for a short trip we recommend cat sitting visits. A caregiver will visit your cat in your apartment. For your longer term needs in-home boarding is the perfect solution. You bring your cat to the caregiver's apartment where she/he will be treated and their own pet. Your cat will be the only pet in the apartment. Ruxandra is an amazing caregiver. This was my second time working with her. The first time, she fed my cats in my home, the second time, I boarded my cats in her home. Both times, she was incredibly attentive, asked great questions, was extremely communicative and caring, and sent great photos on a regular basis. My cats are very particular and aren't used to strangers, and took to Ruxandra very quickly. She is clearly an animal whisperer and has kind, calm, energy. I would not hesitate to use her again or to recommend her. It made my trip so much less stressful knowing my kitties were in a loving, caring environment!
